The company of Chess on Broadway may be delivering one of musical theater’s most iconic scores eight times a week at the Imperial Theatre, but backstage, they are just as entertaining when it comes to which Chess piece they are!

Nicholas Christopher set the tone immediately and crowned himself the king, answering with no hesitation. Hannah Cruz followed in equally decisive fashion, calling herself a bishop. Lea Michele leaned into royal energy with queen status while still embracing king power. The king-queen if you will.

Bryce Pinkham kept things humorous by choosing the knight, wanting the freedom to jump over anything in his way. Shavey Brown proudly selected the king as well, embracing leadership both on stage and at home. Sean Alan Krill also joined the knight club, celebrating the unconventional moves that make the piece unpredictable and cool.

It is a playful moment that highlights exactly why Chess continues to fascinate audiences. For more information on Chess visit ChessBroadway.com
