Jack Wolfe has officially joined the Broadway community, stepping into the role of Orpheus in the Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Just days into his run, Wolfe reflected on what it means to be living his dream on Broadway.

“It is a dream come true. It sounds so cliché, but it’s been the most special couple of days,” Wolfe shared. “I can’t quite believe it’s happening, but I love it here. The Walter Kerr is such a special building, and I feel really lucky.”

Fans may know Wolfe from his breakout performance in Next to Normal in London, and he credits that experience with sparking his Broadway aspirations. “My first time in New York was visiting Caissie [Levy] after we worked on Next to Normal. I saw my first Broadway show at the Booth Theatre, which is where Next to Normal started. It felt like a pilgrimage, and it made me really want to work here. To actually say that I get to be here now is super special.”

Adjusting to New York has been both thrilling and overwhelming for Wolfe, who describes himself as an “incredibly anxious person.” Still, he is quickly finding his favorite spots across the city and connecting with friends in the Broadway community. “The geography Broadway takes up is quite small, so my friends are all so close by. The community is a real thing, and to finally be a part of that means the world.”

Taking on the role of Orpheus has been both exciting and daunting for the actor. “I’m a huge fan of Anaïs Mitchell and what she’s created. The material has so much heart in it, and you can still feel that even after six years. To try to honor the integrity of it is a huge responsibility, but I feel so supported by this cast. They’ve taken me under their wing.”

When asked about his debut bow, Wolfe admitted it was an emotional moment. “At the end, when I could finally allow myself to just be me again, I was very emotional. I spotted people I knew in the audience, and that’s when it all felt real. It was exhausting, but it was very, very cool.” For Wolfe, joining Hadestown is not just about a role, but about being part of a legacy. “It’s scary, but it’s also amazing. I’m grateful every day that I get to do this.”
