With A Few Good Men beginning previews tonight, Arden has three shows playing on Broadway, more than any other director.

Tony Award-winning director Michael Arden now has the most productions currently running on Broadway.

Arden’s newest production, Lincoln Center Theater’s A Few Good Men, begins previews tonight at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. It joins his currently running Tony Award-winning Best Musical Maybe Happy Ending at the Belasco Theatre and The Lost Boys at the Palace Theatre, giving Arden three Broadway productions playing simultaneously.

It is a rare milestone, and one Arden did not even realize he had reached.

“I didn’t know that was true, so that’s exciting and terrifying,” Arden told Broadway Time. “What’s both amazing and horrific about theater is that it’s ephemeral, and we have no idea how long that could last.”

Rather than take personal credit for the moment, Arden pointed to the hundreds of artists whose work is represented across the three productions.

“Even for a day, I’m so, so honored to be making work on Broadway,” he said. “But more importantly, the fact that so many incredible artists are a part of those and get to be seen. I’m just one person, but there are hundreds of people involved, so congrats to them.”

Arden’s current slate reflects the range that has made him one of Broadway’s most in-demand directors. Maybe Happy Ending, the original musical by Will Aronson and Hue Park, has become the longest-running production in the Belasco Theatre’s history and is now selling tickets through February 28, 2027.

At the Palace, Arden directs The Lost Boys, the stage musical adaptation of the beloved 1987 film. The production is the most Tony Award-winning new musical of the season and is currently selling tickets through July 3, 2027.

Tonight’s addition, A Few Good Men, marks the first-ever Broadway revival of Aaron Sorkin’s landmark courtroom drama. The Lincoln Center Theater production stars Tom Blyth, Krysta Rodriguez, and Bradley Whitford, and will officially open October 29 for a limited 13-week engagement.

Arden’s three-show moment now places him at the top of Broadway’s current directing roster, even if, as he notes, theater can change in an instant.
