Wicked: For Good, Queen of Versailles, The Baker’s Wife, oh my! Legendary composer Stephen Schwartz is poised for quite the moment this November with a feature film, a Broadway premiere, and a long-awaited New York revival all arriving within weeks of each other. The Oscar, Grammy, and Tony Award-winning songwriter behind Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin continues to shape the sound of modern musical theater.
Wicked: For Good (In Theaters)
The world of Oz returns to the big screen when Wicked: For Good soars into theaters on November 21, 2025, just one day before the one-year anniversary of Wicked: Part One. The second installment of the two-part film stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, continuing the story of the friendship that changed the Land of Oz.
Featuring Stephen Schwartz’s iconic songs and new music written for the screen, Wicked: For Good promises to deliver the emotion, spectacle, and heart that made the Broadway musical a worldwide phenomenon.
The Queen of Versailles (Broadway)
From computer engineer to Mrs. Florida to billionairess, Jackie Siegel sees herself as the embodiment of the American Dream. As the wife of David “The Timeshare King” Siegel and mother of eight children, she invites audiences to behold their grandest venture yet: building the largest private home in America, a $100 million mansion in Orlando inspired by the Palace of Versailles.
Tony and Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth leads the Broadway premiere of the musical, directed by Tony Award winner Michael Arden, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Lindsey Ferrentino. The Queen of Versailles began performances on October 8 at the St. James Theatre, with opening night set for November 9, 2025.
The Baker’s Wife (Classic Stage Company)
In another major milestone, The Baker’s Wife is receiving its first New York production this fall at Classic Stage Company. Featuring a book by Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof) and direction by Gordon Greenberg, this romantic and witty musical brings Schwartz’s beloved score to the New York stage for the first time since its 1976 debut. The production stars Golden Globe winner Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap) as Aimable Castagnet and Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) as Geneviève Castagnet.
Set in a quiet French village, the story follows a baker and his wife who bring fresh bread and fresh gossip to town. When temptation stirs and hearts wander, the whole community is swept into a swirl of romance, mischief, and melody. The Baker’s Wife runs October 23 through December 21, 2025, with an opening night on November 11 at CSC’s Lynn F. Angelson Theater.
A Month to Remember
With Wicked: For Good flying into theaters, The Queen of Versailles lighting up Broadway, and The Baker’s Wife finally premiering in New York, November belongs to Stephen Schwartz. His music continues to inspire audiences across generations, filling theaters and cinemas alike with heart, humor, and humanity.
For one of Broadway’s most celebrated composers, this November isn’t just another milestone. It’s a triumph.
