Kristin Chenoweth Announces Complete Cast for Broadway Premiere of The Queen of Versailles

The new Broadway musical The Queen of Versailles, led by Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, has officially completed its royal court. The cast was unveiled outside the newly refreshed marquee of the St. James Theatre on 44th Street, where the production begins previews October 8 ahead of a November 9 opening night.

Joining Chenoweth onstage will be Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham. Much of the principal cast from the musical’s record-breaking world premiere in Boston will reprise their roles, including Melody Butiu (Here Lies Love) as Sofia, Stephen DeRosa (Hairspray) as John, Greg Hildreth (Company) as Gary, Tatum Grace Hopkins (Meek) as Jonquil, Isabel Keating (The Boy From Oz) as Debbie, and Nina White (Kimberly Akimbo) as Victoria.
They are joined by Yeman Brown, David Aron Damane, Drew Elhamalawy, Christopher Gurr, KJ Hippensteel, Cassondra James, Andrew Kober, Jesse Kovarsky, Pablo David Laucerica, Travis Murad Leland, Ryah Nixon, Shea Renne, Michael McCorry Rose, Grace Slear, Anne Fraser Thomas, and Jake Bentley Young.
With a score by Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) and a book by Olivier Award nominee Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone), the musical is directed by Tony Award winner Michael Arden (Parade). Producers include Bill Damaschke, Seaview, Sonia Friedman, and Chenoweth herself.
Based on Lauren Greenfield’s 2012 documentary, the show follows Jackie Siegel, a one-time Mrs. Florida turned reality TV icon, as she and her husband David “The Timeshare King” Siegel set out to construct the largest private home in America, inspired by France’s Palace of Versailles. As the 2008 financial crisis looms, their opulent dream collides with harsh reality, laying bare the cost of chasing the American Dream.
The creative team includes music direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, choreography by Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant, and direction by Tony Award winner Michael Arden. Additionally, the production will include scenic & video design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Christian Cowan, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Peter Hylenski, hair & wig design by Cookie Jordan, orchestrations by John Clancy, and casting by Stephen Kopel, CSA & Carrie Gardner, CSA at C12 Casting. Baseline Theatrical will serve as General Manager and Clarissa Marie Ligon will serve as Production Stage Manager.
