Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis’ WARRIORS Sets Broadway Debut for Spring 2027

A new musical from Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis is officially headed to Broadway.

Producers have announced that WARRIORS will begin previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in March 2027, ahead of an official opening in April 2027. The production is based on Paramount Pictures’ cult classic film The Warriors and the novel by Sol Yurick.

Directed by Jenny Koons, with Andy Blankenbuehler serving as co-director and choreographer, WARRIORS follows a fictional New York City gang as they journey from the Bronx back to their home turf in Coney Island after being falsely accused of murdering a respected gang leader named Cyrus. The story unfolds across the five boroughs as the group fights to survive and clear its name.

“With WARRIORS, we take a fateful journey through New York City full of heart and grit as our characters fight to survive,” said co-writers Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis in a statement. “Musicalizing such a vibrant world for the concept album has been a thrill, and now we’re coming out to play on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne. We can’t wait.”

The production boasts an acclaimed creative team, including scenic designer David Korins, costume designer Dede Ayite, lighting designer Natasha Katz, sound designer Jason Crystal, projection designer Hana S. Kim, and music supervisor Kurt Crowley. Orchestrations are by Crowley, Scott Wasserman, and Mike Elizondo.

Before making its way to Broadway, WARRIORS debuted as a concept album in October 2024. Executive produced by Grammy Award winner Nas and produced by Grammy Award winner Mike Elizondo, the album featured an all-star lineup including Ms. Lauryn Hill, Busta Rhymes, Marc Anthony, Billy Porter, Ghostface Killah, RZA, Colman Domingo, Cam’ron, and Kim Dracula, among others.

Produced by Thomas Kail, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Luis A. Miranda Jr., and Jeffrey Seller, the Broadway production marks the next chapter for the ambitious musical adaptation. Additional details, including casting and further creative team announcements, will be revealed at a later date.
